Paradise Beach and Da Nang Surf Spots

Where to Surf in Da Nang: Map of 9 Urban Surf Spots

You can surf along almost the entire city coastline in Da Nang, but good surfable waves do not form everywhere. The most popular sandbars are usually found in the central part of My Khe, while less crowded areas can be found farther south near Furama and farther north around Mân Thái. This Da Nang surf spots map covers nine beach areas and explains which are more beginner-friendly, where the crowds thin out, how to get there and where to find a board.

Nam O, the Sơn Trà Peninsula and the beaches of Hoi An are not included. These are separate areas with different conditions, access and wave characteristics.

Nine Urban Surf Spots in Da Nang

All locations are listed from south to north. The neighbouring areas are close to each other, so if the peak you choose is not working, it is usually easier to check the next stretch of coastline.

1. South of Furama, a Quiet Sandy Beach

This is the quietest area on the map: the bottom is sandy with no rocks, there is no permanent swimming zone and there are no commercial water activities. There are usually few people, so with the right forecast you can find an uncrowded wave.

There is no direct access to the water. Leave your motorbike on the Furama side, then walk about 100 metres along the beach. There is no permanent rental nearby either, so it is better to arrange a board in advance.

2. Furama, Easy Beach Access

The beach is easy to access from the road, and you can leave your motorbike close to the shore. When facing the sea, look for a working wave to the left of the designated swimming zone. The bottom is entirely sandy, with no rocks.

In smaller conditions, this area may suit beginners. There are far fewer people here than at central My Khe, and lifeguards are present nearby.

During the rainy season, a small outflow sometimes opens near the beach and can change the shape of the bottom. Arrange board delivery in advance, as there is no permanent rental point on this stretch of beach.

3. Pullman, Easy Access and Parking

The beach near Pullman is wide and sandy, with easy access and convenient parking. There is a designated swimming zone and lifeguards, so look for a working peak off to one side without crossing paths with swimmers.

The beach is busiest from around 4:30 to 7:00 and again after 16:00 until dark. It is noticeably quieter during the day.

The sandbar does not always stay in the same place, but it is often possible to find a working section somewhere along this stretch. In small, calm surf, the area is suitable for beginners. It is better to arrange a board in advance.

4. Public Showers, a Working Sandbar and Parking

The public showers near the beach are the landmark for this area. Paid motorbike parking is available nearby and usually costs around 5,000 VND. You can also leave your motorbike to the side and follow a short path through the coastal trees to the water.

There is one swimming zone here. You can surf to one side of it. A sandbar forms on this stretch quite often, making it a useful alternative when the lineup near Eden and Rosamia is too crowded.

There is no permanent rental point by the water, so delivery needs to be arranged in advance.

5. Ngô Thì Sĩ, a Sandbar Near the Stormwater Outlet

A large stormwater outlet runs into the sea at the end of Ngô Thì Sĩ Street. The flow moves sand and changes the depth, so a defined sandbar periodically forms nearby. In the right conditions, the wave starts breaking farther offshore and can offer a long ride.

Parking is convenient, and there is no designated swimming zone immediately nearby. There are usually fewer people than around Eden and Rosamia.

Important: after heavy rain, the outlet may carry dirty urban runoff into the sea and create a strong current.

6. Eden, My Khe’s Main Surf Peak

Eden is one of the best-known and busiest surf spots in central My Khe. With a good forecast, the wave starts breaking farther offshore, and a working section can offer a long ride.

When facing the sea, one of the swimming zones is to the left of the peak. You can leave your motorbike across the road or near the public parking area.

The main drawback is the crowded lineup. In small surf, the spot suits confident beginners and intermediate surfers, but in bigger waves or when there are many people in the water, it is better to assess the situation from the beach first.

7. Rosamia, a Beginner Surf Spot

Rosamia is a convenient and popular area in central My Khe. When the forecast is small, the waves here are often more manageable for beginners.

Surfboard rentals, surf schools and cafés can be found within approximately 100–200 metres. You can come without your own board and arrange a rental and an instructor on the spot.

The water can be crowded in the morning and when the forecast is good. Before entering, check the position of the swimming zone and make sure there is enough space to practise.

8. Paradise Beach Bar, Surf Cam and Events

This area is opposite Paradise Beach Bar. This area can produce good waves when the forecast lines up.

A Da Nang surf cam is installed near Paradise. It lets you check the wave size, surface conditions and number of people at central My Khe in advance. The camera does not show the conditions near Furama, Pullman or Mân Thái.

Surf competitions and local surf events may also be held here.

9. Mân Thái, a Quieter Northern Area

Mân Thái is north of central My Khe, on the way towards Sơn Trà and Lady Buddha. There are usually fewer people here, with convenient parking and cafés near the beach.

The waves are generally weaker than near Eden, Rosamia and Paradise. A clearly defined sandbar is not always present, but during the surf season you can find mellow, workable sections. This can be an advantage for a beginner if the current and wind remain safe.

There are swimming zones on the beach, so surf away from them. Do not count on finding a permanent rental point, but a board can be ordered for delivery.

How to Choose a Da Nang Surf Spot Today

Before leaving, open the camera near Paradise and check the forecast: wave height and period, swell direction, wind and tide.

Once you arrive, watch several sets in a row. Check:

  • where the wave starts to peak;
  • how quickly it closes out;
  • which way the current is moving;
  • where the swimmers and fishing nets are;
  • whether there is enough space in the lineup;
  • whether it is easy to enter and leave the water with a board.

If the peak is crowded or every wave closes out, check the next area. General seasonality is covered in our guide to surfing in Da Nang, while the warmer months are covered separately in our article about surfing in Da Nang in summer.

Where to Rent a Surfboard in Da Nang

Most surfboard rentals are located in central My Khe, especially near Rosamia and Paradise. For Furama, Pullman, the public showers, Ngô Thì Sĩ and Mân Thái, it is more reliable to arrange delivery in advance via WhatsApp.

When booking, provide your height, weight, experience, preferred time and chosen location. A stable soft-top with enough volume is usually more useful for a beginner than a short board that makes it harder to paddle and catch a soft wave.

If it is still difficult to assess the current, wave size and peak position on your own, you can start with a surf lesson in Da Nang. The lesson location is selected according to the conditions on the day.

Safety on Da Nang City Beaches

A sandy bottom with no rocks does not automatically make every area safe. Wind, current, wave size and the number of people can change the situation within a few hours.

On Da Nang beaches, it is important to:

  • avoid surfing inside designated swimming zones;
  • follow lifeguard instructions and pay attention to the flags;
  • avoid entering the water near an active stormwater outlet;
  • check for fishing nets in the water.

After heavy rain and storms, deep holes, strong currents close to shore, debris and polluted water may appear.

Which Da Nang Surf Spot to Choose

If you want to start with the best-known locations, check Eden, Rosamia and Paradise in central My Khe. Quieter areas can be found near Furama, the public showers and Mân Thái, while Pullman offers easy access and convenient parking.

Do not choose a location by its name on the map alone. Da Nang’s sandbars shift, so the best area depends on the swell, wind, tide and sea conditions on the day you surf. Check the camera, watch several sets from the beach and move to the next area if necessary.
